Day 1 travelling to SEOUL!!

Calgary-Vancouver, Vancouver SEOUL!!

overcast -17 °C

Monday May 5. 2008

Today we caught our domestic flight with Air Canada to Vancouver, because flights out of Vancouver were a lot cheaper. The flight was pretty good, pretty typical for an hour flight to Vancouver. We also wanted to fly with Singapore Airlines, because we'd heard they were one of the best!. And so right they are!! When we arrived at the ticket counter, they had overbooked the flight, and we were upgraded to business class so that they could let on stand-by passengers!! HOW SWEET IS THAT! 11houf flight!!! And finally we landed in Seoul. We landed at the Inchon airport (ICN)

There is no visa required to enter South Korea for stays less that 180days. You do need to have a valid Canadian Passport, and it must be valid for 6 month, after you expected return date. When we landed in Seoul, we were surprised at how big the airport was, and found it a little hard to navigate around the airport, because we had a hard time finding someone who could speak English....

There were a few options for transportation to get into downtown Seoul, and we opted for one of the cheaper ones. We caught a deluxe limousine bus for about 14,000 South Korean won(their national currency), which is about 15 dollars, and it takes just over an hour to get into downtown Seoul. You can also catch a taxi which is a bit of a shorter trip, only 45 minutes, but costs 50,000 South Korean won, which is just over 50 dollars Canadian.
It is also a good idea to always have your destinations written out in Korean, the countries official language, as many taxi drivers may not understand much English.
