Trip to the most historical site in Korea by KTX
18.02.2008 4 °C
We went trip to Gyeonju-si where there is the most historical site in Korea by KTX. KTX is Korea's high-speed train. This new high-speed train has been designed to reach speeds of 350 km per hour(1). It currently operates around 300 km per hour, cutting travel time almost in half.(2)
Frist we needed to take KTX from Seoul Station to Dongdaegu Station then transferred regular train to Gyeonju Station, because there is no KTX going to Gyeonju Station from Seoul Station directly. It took about 2hour to Dongdaegu Station and about 1hour from Dongdaegu Station to Gyeonju Station.

Here is the English Website for the KTX, which we found super helpful before getting on the train!!
When Korea divided 3 ancient kingdoms such as Silla, Goguryeo and Baekje, expecially for Silla, Gyeonju-si was the capital city of Silla. Gyeongju preserves vast amount of significant and fascinating historical heritage. Along with Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto, the Gyeongju Historical District has been designated as a World Heritage by UNESCO. We went one of attractions, Bulguksa Temple. 1) It is the represntative relic of Gyeongju and was 2)designated as a World Cultural Asset by UNESCO in 1995. The beauty of the temple itself and the artistic touch of the stone relics are known throughout the world. Also it is home to seven National treasures of South Korea, including Dabotap and Seokgatap stone pagodas, Cheongun-gyo (Blue Cloud Bridge), and two gilt-bronze statutes of Buddha.
